Abstract

Students will understand Maslow's hierarchy of needs and the underlying principles.

Students will be able to predict behavior in a given situation based on an analysis of needs, and find examples of mismatches between needs. (e.g. - parents focusing on higher level needs (such as social acceptance) when a child has lower level needs (sleep) as when that parent tries to rationally explain why the child shouldn't be having a fit when the child is really tired.

One example of best evidence: Can select examples from current events of a mismatch in needs (defining which level and which needs).

What would current students say about these outcomes: Most would wonder why they aren't expressed in a multiple choice question. The rest would say thank goodness for actual application.

Are current activities authentic? NO!
