    Dr. Duerstock is an Associate Professor of Engineering Practice in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and School of Industrial Engineering and member of the Center for Paralysis Research. He has a courtesy appointment in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University. He is the Director of the Institute for Accessible Science to promote greater inclusion of persons with disabilities in STEM education and employment. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and doctorate in neuroscience from Purdue as a quadriplegic due to a spinal cord injury (SCI). His research interests focus on the providing greater function and independence for persons with disabilities.
