    Mary is the W. Brooks Fortune Professor of Chemistry. She moved to Purdue in the summer of 2009 from the University of Arizona. Her research combines bioanalytical chemistry and materials science to make new devices for earlier detection of cancer. She owns a small business in Tucson that has commercialized such devices. Her teaching approach is to use examples from the real world to engage students in the excitement and fascination of science.
