Description: | In this talk Dr. Carter Andrews describes mindsets and practices that STEM faculty need to employ to cultivate positive relationships with students and maximize student learning. In order for all students to experience classrooms as inclusive spaces, faculty must consider the role they play in creating culturally responsive learning environments that meet the needs of all students. Dr. Carter Andrews will discuss the significance of critical self- refection as key for enhancing one's cultural competency and understanding how issues of power, privilege, and difference can impede the teaching and learning process. |
