Design, Make, Play: Pusing the envelope on integrated, exploratory STEM learning in an urban science museum  This talk and discussion will describe how playful learning experiences in science museums can motivate and deepen interdisciplinary understanding of STEM.The New York Hall of Science serves an extremely diverse population of visitors and is committed to an overarching approach to STEM learning for all that they call Design, Make, Play. Dr. Culp will describe exhibit development eorts that illustrate the opportunities and challenges they are encountering as they seek to create playful, interest-driven learning experiences for their audiences. She will also discuss their research interests, which focus on how informal experiences can best support the development of cross-disciplinary practices of inquiry, and the central role of noticing in successful Design, Make, Play exhibits and programs.
