Increasing Performance and Productivity

Research has shown that we are nurturers and are comfortable with our teaching and service work. We are committed to doing a good job in those areas, so that trade-offs are made on our research. We don’t do enough career planning, which stifles our career vitality and enhancement of professional reputation. So why aren’t we doing more planning? Because we are not making the time. We say we don’t have time, but research shows that we waste a lot of time. We waste time everyday, which hinders our productivity. We need to have clear and concise goals and objectives for the day, project or task.

Mechanisms for tracking time and staying on task: Use Project Management software Use To Do lists Block time on your calendar Use tools to track time spent (e.g. download Focal Filter tool to categorize where spending time on Internet and block those sites)
