Since its formation in December 2015, our Community of Practice in Equity and Privilege has been meeting regularly to sharpen each other toward becoming more equitable in our teaching. In addition to sharing our own ideas and experiences, we discuss what we are learning from invited speakers, books, and articles about equity. We have begun to develop strategies that we can implement to build equity into our classroom teaching and learning environments, which will include visiting each other's classrooms to observe and give feedback.
During the Spring 2017 semester we plan to meet meeting every other Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:30 in Wang. We will have a designated room shortly. Our meetings are open for anyone to come. We also plan to invite several outside speakers at different points in the semester, as we did last Spring. Next meeting is Wednesday, February 15th. Contact our facilitator Fatma Mili if you are interested, at mili@purdue.edu.
